| TWO QUICK WAYS TO CHECK ON A COMPANY'S HISTORY 1) Visit www.networksolutions.com, and click on the WHOIS link at the very bottom of the page. Simply type in the company's EXACT website address (example www.scamlighting.com) and click Search. This will bring up full information about the company which often includes contact information and information on how long the company has been online. You can even check us out by doing the same thing under our main domain of www.ccl-light.com. You will find that we have been online ourselves since 1999, yet we have actually been around much longer. The only reason our website was created in 1999 was because this was when the Internet was starting to really become popular. We even have catalogs that date back to the 1980's, but we did not start our website until 1999. You can also visit www.alexa.com, and enter in the website address. This will give you the website's history and show you how long they have in fact been online. Also included is the true owner's name and contact information. We have found that certain companies not only lie about how long they have been in business but indeed post a false owners name. Now, any company's website that you come across that has only been up for less than 5 years but yet claims they have been around much longer, is definitely deceiving you. Think about it... Why would a company that has been around longer than 5 years not have a website that is at least 5 years old? The answer... Simple. Because they have not been around longer than the time their website has been up. Another way to look at it is doing business on the web became very popular in 1998. Any company that has supposedly been around for 20 years would have had a website by at least 1999 or the year 2000. So if you run into a company that started their website anytime after 2000, they have definitely NOT been in business for over 5 years, let alone, 20. Again, simply click on the Network Solutions link above and follow the above steps to confirm this. 2) Ask the company to fax you over a copy of their business license or corporate information. After they fax you this (because faxes can always be manipulated), please call that city's business licensing office and verify their existence. Why is this important? Because if a company can lie to you about how long they've been in business, what else can they lie about? CLICK TO SEE WHY YOU SHOULD BUY FROM US TRUTH IN ADVERTISING - Please don't be fooled by those that advertise lifetime guarantees when they themselves have been open for only a short time yet are advertising false or deceptive history. We suggest that you read above for helpful consumer tips on how to protect yourself from companies that falsify their existence. Please also don't be fooled by companies that advertise free shipping. NO ONE GETS FREE SHIPPING or a REDUCED SHIPPING! This is a classic gimmick and quite frankly we are shocked that in the year 2005, companies are still using this classic deceptive advertising. It is quite obvious that they factor the shipping into the cost of the product. In fact, this ends up costing you more than if they would have just separated the shipping cost. Why? Think about it... When the shipping amount is added to the product cost, everybody pays the same, whether you are located close or far from that company. You will end up paying much more for shipping than what it actually would have cost had the shipping cost been honestly separated from the cost of the product. Plus, you will never get the discount that normally applies to orders over certain weights, because you are being charged a flat incorporated shipping cost. So come on people, let's get real here. There is NO SUCH THING AS FREE SHIPPING or LOW SHIPPING - and shame on any company that advertises this. We are at least honest enough to let you know that we carry about 20 items out of 2,500 that we advertise as free shipping. Why do we have these 20 items at Free Shipping? Because they are recessed trims that cost us 6 cents a piece to ship. Unlike other companies that are selling chandeliers, post lights, and many other items and advertise them at free shipping (absurd), we decided that we'll eat the 6 cents, and not the 30 dollars. So like we said, anybody that uses this free shipping gimmick, have fun with them and throw them a curve ball by calling them and asking them, "Can I pick up the order?..." |
