What are Sones?
A Sone is an internationally recognized unit of loudness. Sones are a linear measure like inches. Doubling the sone value is equivalent to doubling the loudness. To get a sense of what one sone represents, one Sone is equivalent to the sound of a quiet refrigerator in a quiet kitchen. Typically, the Sone level is measured at maximum CFM (speed).

Quite frankly our personal opinion on sound level (sones) for these items:

It's over rated and Who cares!

Basically, why would you pay almost double the price for an exhaust vent solely for the lowest sound level it can offer?

Does the sound level really matter, especially when its so close...1.5 sone to 4 sone..no big difference in our opinion based on the following:

In most cases you can not or will not be listening to it.

Think about it...WHERE do you use these items ..the bathroom right?

And WHEN do you really use these items... when the shower or sink is running (so you can't hear it anyway) or when you're relieving yourself. Sometimes it's better, more private and comfortable to have sound in the background while relieving yourself.

So come on, do you really need to spend a fortune for something you use maybe once a day and for only a few minutes at that because its quieter??
