California Title 24 Compliant
Starting in October 2005, The California Energy Commission adopted stringent new Title 24 guidelines to decrease consumption of energy resources. Both builders and renovators of residential homes are required to install energy-efficient devices in every room. Cooper Wiring Devices' Vacancy Sensors provide innovative solutions to this challenge by meeting California Title 24 code requirements, and by saving energy and money.

Vacancy sensing wall switches by Cooper Wiring Devices
use PIR (passive infrared technology) to detect when a room becomes vacant. Once the room is left unoccupied for a predetermined period of time, the light goes off -- automatically! It's ideal for homes with children -- no more having to remind them to turn off the lights! Vacancy sensors are perfect for bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages, basements and anywhere in the home where you need assurance that lights are turned off when not in use. That's how vacancy wall switches conserve energy and save money.

Vacancy sensing wall switches operate in a Manual On/Automatic Off mode; pressing the touchplate on the face of the switch turns on the lights. Once lights are turned on, they will remain on as long as someone is in the room. When the room is vacated, the lights will turn off automatically after the pre-set delay interval. Lights may be turned off manually by pressing the touchplate. The switch includes a unique self-adjusting feature that automatically changes the sensitivity and time delay in real time depending on the activity in the room.

Important Notes
1) Turning Lights On
This device is set to increase energy savings, you can turn the lights on by simply pressing and releasing the touchplate.
2) Time Delay
This is the length of time after no motion is detected before lights turn off. The recommended setting is usually 6-10 minutes; if you remain very still for long periods, you may need a longer time delay. After lights turn off, they can be turned on again if movement is detected within the next 30 seconds.
3) Turning Lights Off
The switch will always turn off the lights automatically when the room has been vacant for a set period of time. However, you can turn out the lights manually at any time by pressing and releasing the touchplate. The lights will stay off until you turn them on again manually.
4) Tape Strips
These may be used to narrow the field-of-view of the wall switch lens to prevent detection of motion beyond the workspace.
